Welcome to Footnotes

A running series of philosophical-ish short essays by me, Garrett Allen. Think of it as a philosophical novel in serial form.

I call it “Footnotes” because we walk a path, a way, because life is on the road; because in the end knowledge is embodied, alive in the hand and foot, in the brow; because these letters came to me, and come, when I am out, on the move, on the way, and they are therefore an interruption, a lingering, a timeless rest; because as footnotes they are also flags, — something to come back to, something not yet done with, something promised; and because, like all writing, they are secondary, and to be looked into or over entirely according to whim, — your whim.

Letters ⩩ 1 - 8 in the series make up a chapter called The Stagestranger. Here are some highlights.

⩩ 1 Headsup

⩩ 3 Speechless

⩩ 6 Whim

⩩ 7 Mistake
